How to Use This

First time here? Start with the Get Started guide.

Get Started →
⚠ Windows Only
Crystal Meth runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It does not run on Mac, Linux, or mobile devices. Do not follow these steps on those systems.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
  • Python 3.12 installed from python.org. During install, tick "Add Python to PATH".
  • Administrator access — needed once for the installer.
  • Chrome or Edge installed.
  • SEB 3.10.2 configured exam file (the .seb file your college sends you). Exams configured for other SEB versions may not work.

If Python isn't installed, the app will open but the exam won't load. Verify after install: open PowerShell, type python --version — should print Python 3.12.x.

Total setup time: about 3 minutes. You only need to do this once.

Step 1: Sign Up

Go to the Sign Up page. Enter your email, a password, your display name, and your register number. Approval is automatic — your account is ready about 20 seconds after you submit.

Step 2: Download the App

Download CrystalMeth.exe from this Link. Save it anywhere you like. It's a single file, no installer.

Step 3: Right-Click Your .seb File

The installer registers Crystal Meth automatically. To open your exam, right-click the .seb file, choose Open with, and select Crystal Meth.

If you want double-click to launch Crystal Meth automatically, choose Always use this app when the picker appears.

Some colleges install real Safe Exam Browser. If yours did, double-clicking might open the real SEB instead of Crystal Meth. In that case, use right-click → Open with → Crystal Meth.

Step 4: Get Your .seb File

Your college will give you a .seb file before the exam. It's usually an email attachment or a link from your instructor. Save it somewhere you'll remember.

Step 5: Launch the Exam

Double-click the .seb file. On first launch, a login window will appear — enter the credentials you used to sign up. After that, the app opens Chrome and launches the exam.

Log in to Moodle as usual. The overlay (top bar + taskbar) will stay on screen for the whole session.

Your display name and register number come from your account and appear on the overlay. They can only be changed by the admin — contact them if you need a change.
