Before You Start

Read this checklist before you do anything else. Skipping any of these will break the setup later.

If you don't have Python 3.12: download it now, run the installer, tick "Add Python to PATH", and verify by opening PowerShell and typing python --version. It should print Python 3.12.x. If it says "not recognized", Python isn't installed correctly — try again.

Get Started

Follow these steps in order. It takes about 5–10 minutes total (Python install is the longest part). If anything looks wrong, use the Contact Info page.

1

Create an account

Go to the Sign Up page and enter:

  • Email — this becomes your login. Use one you check.
  • Password — at least 6 characters. Remember it.
  • Display name — the name that appears on your exam overlay.
  • Register number — your college register number.
Your display name and register number appear on the exam overlay and cannot be changed later. Type them carefully.
2

Wait for approval

A human reviews every request. You'll usually be approved within a few hours. You cannot log in until approved — this is by design.

Once approved, you get 7 minutes of free trial in Standard credit. This is enough to test the app on a normal exam page. It will not let you access OTP-protected quiz pages — those need Premium credit.
3

Log in and check your balance

Go to the Donate page and log in with the email and password you chose. You'll see a "Your Account" box showing your current balance in both credit pools.

Two credit types:

  • Standard credit — used on normal exam pages. Cheaper (₹50 for 30 minutes). Always spent first.
  • Premium credit — required for OTP-protected quiz pages. More expensive (₹150 for 45 minutes). Also used as a fallback when standard credit runs out.
Don't know if your exam uses OTP pages? Buy at least one Premium credit before the exam. Premium works everywhere Standard does, so nothing is wasted.

When you're ready, the Donate page walks you through buying a gift card and submitting it.

4

Download and install the app

Click the download button below. This opens a Proton Drive page.

On that page, click the Download button. Your browser will save CrystalMeth-Setup.exe to your Downloads folder.

⬇ Download CrystalMeth-Setup.exe

Double-click the downloaded file. A Windows installer will open. Click Next → Next → Install → Finish.

Windows will warn you: "Windows protected your PC" or "This app isn't verified". This is because the app isn't code-signed (signing costs money we don't have).

Click "More info" → "Run anyway". It's safe.
The installer will ask for admin permission once. This is needed to register the .seb file association and add a Windows Defender exclusion. Click Yes on the UAC prompt.
5

Get your exam file (.seb)

Before the exam, your instructor will send you a file ending in .seb — usually by email or through the college portal.

Save it somewhere you'll find it easily. Your Desktop is fine.

The .seb file is specific to your exam. You can't use someone else's. Wait for the one your instructor sends you.
6

Double-click the .seb file

That's it. The exam opens in Chrome. You'll see a brief splash screen, then the SEB overlay appears (top bar + taskbar), and the login page loads.

On first launch, you may be asked to:

  • Log in with your email and password.
  • Confirm your display name and register number.

After that, future launches skip straight to the exam.

7

Take the exam

The exam runs inside the SEB overlay, just like real Safe Exam Browser. Don't close the overlay until you're done — it tracks your session.

To exit: click the power button on the bottom taskbar, confirm, and wait for the splash screen. Everything closes cleanly.
8

What happens when credits run out

When your standard credit reaches 0, normal exam pages will start using your premium credit as a fallback. This is automatic — you don't need to do anything.

When your premium credit reaches 0 and you try to open an OTP-protected page, the page will refuse to load. Go back to a normal page, or top up premium credit.

When both pools hit 0, your session ends. The overlay closes, Chrome closes, and you'll need to top up before starting the exam again.

Before a long exam, check your balance. Open the Donate page, log in, and look at the "Your Account" box. If your total minutes is less than the exam duration, top up first.

Having trouble?

"Windows protected your PC" when running the installer

Click More infoRun anyway. This is because the app isn't code-signed.

"Cursor spins but nothing happens" when double-clicking the .seb file

Wait 10–15 seconds. The first launch is slower because Windows extracts the app bundle. Subsequent launches are fast.

"No internet connection" inside the exam

This usually means the proxy didn't start. Close everything, restart the .seb file. If it persists, log out and back in to refresh your session.

"Account pending approval"

You haven't been approved yet. Wait a few hours, then try again. If it's been more than 24 hours, message the admin.

Anything else

Go to the Contact Info page. Include a screenshot and what you were doing when it broke.
